Hello there. Edgar Squires here to tell you about my latest work.
Edgar Squires you say? … (you say? !) Is that your real name?
Not exactly! Somewhere in my youth I invented a new persona. Being “John” felt so ordinary and my last name has always been so cumbersome.
So I chose to adopt a rock and roll name. I became Edgar Squires. From where does this name originate? Edgar from Edgar Winters, one of the truly wonderful outrageous characters from rock’s past and Squires, a semi-royal sounding name borrowed from the best local guitar player in my home town.
Years ago I made myself Edgar to the point that my own father would call me Edgar, I put that identity into the background and reinvented myself again. (You will see this pattern again. I hope you do know that Mark Twain was a pen name). But now I return Edgar Squires to the world not only as my alter-ego but as the publisher of Poor Edgar’s Almanac.
Welcome to Poor Edgar’s Almanac. A monthly collection of essays, advice and opinion about our crazy world. My intent is not to sway any of you nor push an agenda. I am here simply to be a crier in the wilderness trying to bring a shaft of light and a small calmness to the dark forest that surrounds us.
If you don’t agree with something I wrote please fell free to write me and say so. Thoughtful interaction and sharing/contrasting ideas is always welcome. I just have one request. Please do not be a self centered troll. I’ll ignore you and we’ll never have a fitting conversation.
Until next time, please enjoy Poor Edgar’s Almanac and be careful out there.
Edgar
